Bobby Sherman: 60s Teen Idol & Pop Star Legend Passes Away at 81

Pop star and heartthrob Bobby Sherman, whose catchy bubblegum pop tunes ruled the airwaves in the 1960s and ’70s, has died at 81 after a brave battle with Stage 4 cancer.

With his trademark shaggy mop-top hair and winning smile, Sherman became the ultimate teen idol, topping fan-favorite magazines like Tiger Beat and Sixteen.

Sherman’s wife, Brigitte Poublon, shared the sad news: “Bobby left this world holding my hand, surrounded by love, courage, and unwavering grace.”

From lunchboxes to bedroom posters, his face was everywhere. TV Guide even ranked him at No. 8 on its “25 Greatest TV Teen Idols” list.

He bridged generations of young heartthrobs, following Ricky Nelson in the ’50s, ahead of David Cassidy in the ’70s, all the way to today’s superstars.

Sherman scored four Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hits—“Little Woman,” “Julie, Do Ya Love Me,” “Easy Come, Easy Go,” and “La La La (If I Had You).”

He released six albums on the Billboard 200, including “Here Comes Bobby,” which stayed on the chart for 48 weeks and peaked at No. 10.

After pop fame and starring roles on “Shindig!,” “Here Come the Brides,” and “Getting Together,” Sherman later devoted his life to teaching CPR.
